Article (1): Association's Title:
Saudi Physical Therapy Association To top
Article (2): The Objectives of the Association:
The scientific Objectives of the Association are as follows:
- 1- To develop & activate scientific ideology in Physical Therapy field.
- 2- To Promote scientific relations among SPTA members.
- 3- To present scientific consultation in the field of specialization.
- 4- To improve the scientific performance & careers of its members.
- 5- To facilitate mutual scientific production & ideas in physical therapy activities among concerned corporations & establishments both within & outside KSA. To top
Article (3): SPTA Activities:
SPTA is looking forwards to achieve its objectives that are mentioned in Article (2) by all suitable means & has special rights in practicing the following activities:
- 1- To encourage scientific research in its field that is related to the field of knowledge, disseminating results of studies & distributing them among the related associations.
- 2- To edit the Saudi Physical Therapy Journal, a periodical scientific brochure concerned with the publication of articles, research & studies related to the interest of the association.
- 3- To present symposia, meetings, studying cycles that negotiate different problems in the field of the association.
- 4- To organize scientific trips, arrange scientific & cultural competitions in the association's field of specialization.
- 5- To participate in the local & international exhibitions. To top
Article (4): Procedures for Establishing SPTA:
SPTA has been established by the board of King Saud University on the recommendation of the Scientific Board and should not be duplicated in any other university in the Kingdom.
After issuing the decision to establish the association and up to the completion of association's framework, a temporary committee composed by the scientific Board of five members will deal with all specialization. Its responsibility shall be ended after the 1st meeting held by the general assembly where a new Board of administration shall be elected. These members will choose their president who shall be a member of the teaching staff in the College of Applied Medical Sciences of King Saud University and the committee will present a detailed report about its achievements to the general assembly. Article (5): The Membership: It's Conditions & Procedures:
Membership shall be of three types:
1) Working membership:
- a. SPTA member shall have a scientific degree or its equivalent in Physical Therapy.
- b. SPTA member shall pay the annual fees.
- c. Any other conditions the board of administration sees fit.
- d. An acceptance decision concerning him/her issued from the administration council.
2) Honorary membership:
- a. Honorary members shall be selected by a decision of the General Assembly among those who have rendered physical or moral services to the Association or participated in upgrading its area of interest.
- b. Honorary members shall be exempted of interest. Honorary members shall be exempted from paying registration & subscription fees.
- c. The honorary member may attend the sessions of the General Assembly & the meetings of the various committees of the Association, & he/she may take part in the discussions.
3)Associate membership:
- a. Undergraduate Physical Therapy students.
- b. Those who are working or those who are interested in the field of the association but who do not hold the degree.
c. The Associate member will be exempt for 50% of the annual fees. The Associate member may attend sessions of General assembly & meetings of various committees of the Association & he/she may take part in the discussions but may not vote. To top
Article (6): Termination of Membership:
Association's membership shall be terminated in the following cases:
- 1- The member's withdrawal or death.
- 2- Loss of one or more conditions.
- 3- Delayed payment of annual fee for a complete year. The membership shall not be lost unless a written notice about the results of delay shall be sent to the member three months before the end of the mentioned year.
- 4- If the member commits any activity which causes financial or moral damage to the society, membership should not be held without the decision of the assembly. To top
Article (7): Membership Restoration:
It is permitted by a decision issued by Board of Administration to return membership to a member at his request if the causes of membership cancellation have been resolved. To top
Article (8): General Assembly Composition & Meetings:
- 1- Honorary members & all other working members who pay their annual fees shall compose the general assembly, the general assembly shall hold an ordinary meeting each year.
- 2- The Board of administration shall arrange an agenda for the general assembly & call the president of the board of administration for the meeting.
- 3- It is permissible for the general assembly to hold an extra ordinary meeting at the request of the board of administration or one fifth of its members. Decisions reached will be treated as extra ordinary meeting decisions.
- 4- The general assembly's meeting shall be legal when attended by at least two thirds of its members. In case quorum is not complete there shall be another- meeting two weeks from the date of the first meeting. This meeting shall be legal by any number of attendees.To top
- 1- To approve the association's general policy.
- 2- To approve the association's annual budget & its final accountings each year.
- 3- To approve the annual report.
- 4- To select the Assembly members.
- 5- To sanction the association's annual work plan.
- 6- To sanction the establishment of branches upon the recommendation of the board of Administration.
- 7- To select an external auditor for the association accounts & to determine his fee.
- 8- To recommend the transfer of the Association to another university.
- 9- To recommend the dissolution of the Association.To top
- 1- Members' annual fees.
- 2- Association's income from its printed press, periodical journals & other services in its field.
- 3- Association's income from training & programs.
- 4- Gifts, contributions & donations which are offered by the University, corporations or persons.
- 1- The Association's financial year begins & ends with the University financial year.
- 2- The final accounts shall be arranged according to regulation & career traditions. To top
- 1- The Board of Administration shall be not more than nine members elected by general assembly through a secret ballot between its working members, at least one third of them from the University.
- 2- The term of the Board of Administration is three years & may be renewed for one period.
- 3- If a member of Board of Administration is frequently absent for three periods without reasonable causes the Board has the right to consider him resigned.
- 4- If a vacancy occurs in the Board of Administration for any reasons the Board has a right to choose another member in conditions that are approved by the general Assembly on its first meeting.
- 5- The Board of Administration shall elect through secret ballot, a president for a period of 3 years with the option of renewal for another term from among those who belong to the University. The Board of Administration shall choose from among its members a vice president, secretary & treasurer.
- 6- The president of the Board of Administration represents the association in all formal & informal authorities inside & outside KSA according to systematic procedures & chairs the General Assembly. To top
- 1- To propose the association's budget.
- 2- To arrange the schedule of work of the general assembly.
- 3- To propose the association's general policy according to the mentioned objectives and display it to the general assembly for approval.
- 4- The propose internal regulations and arrange the association's works.
- 5- To form committees and specialized groups to perform the association's tasks and activities.
- 6- To prepare the association's annual activity and submit it to the specialized Board in the University after being agreed upon by the general assembly.
- 7- To decide members' annual fees.
- 8- To prepare studies and research.
- 9- To approve colloquiums, sessions and studying cycles according to the required system that applies in all universities.
- 10- To accept gifts, contributions and donations. To top
- 1- The association's activities have a direct relation with the University president or his representative.
- 2- The association formed its regulations in a way so as not to contradict its terms & shall be approved by Senate of the University.
- 3- The University president or his representative shall sanction the general assembly & Board of Administration reports.
- 4- In case of dispute between the University president & general assembly or Board of Administration the matter shall be raised to the University Senate & its decision shall be final.
- 5- If the scientific association is disbanded for any reason, the University shall own its properties.
- 6- If the association is transferred from the University to another, its properties shall be transferred with it to the new university.
- 7- The council of higher education has the right to interpret these regulations.
- 8- This regulation shall be effective from the date of its approval.
- 9- This regulation shall be applied to current associations.
- 10- Whatever contradicts this regulation shall be cancelled. To top
- 1- The annual fee shall be SR 200 paid each year.
- 2- The annual fee shall be reduced to a half for those who are affiliated members & students.
- 3- The Board of administration has the right to change regulation & subscriptions fee without approval from general assembly. To top
- 1- He shall lead the association's general administration & chair its meetings.
- 2- He decides the schedule of work of the Board of Administration.
- 3- He calls general assembly to meet.
- 4- He signs the important documents, which contain financial authorization or moral responsibilities.
- 5- He represents the association on formal & informal authorities within & outside KSA.
- 1- He assists the president, prepares the meeting's agenda & displays it to the president for approved.
- 2- He prepares the association's annual report & displays it to the president for approval.
- 3- He prepares & signs the ordinary writings & invitations for association meetings.
- 4- He prepares meetings & reports of Board of administration & records it on its files.
- 5- He supervises members & meetings records.
- 1- He receives registration & subscriptions fees.
- 2- He makes the required payments.
- 3- He signs the interior sheets due to his specialization.
- 4- He deposits the association's amounts in the bank & signs besides the president signature on all financial sheets.
- 5- He prepares the annual report on the association's budget & displays it after review by the accountant to the general assembly at its ordinary meeting.
- 6- He maintains the association's financial record & is responsible for it. To top
Article (9): Genera1 Assembly Specialization:
General assembly shall deal with the following:
Article (10): SPTA 's Honorary President:
According to the Board of administration's proposal, the association's members may propose an honorary president for the scientific association from among its known members who has knowledge of the association's work for one term of 3 years'. The Senate of the University will issue this decision. The association's honorary president has the right to chair the meeting he/she attends. To top

Article (13): Meetings of the Administration:
The Board of Administration shall hold an ordinary meeting each three months. The meeting shall be legal when attended by most of its members and it has the right to hold an extra ordinary meeting when required by more than half of its members, and One fifth of the general assembly or the president of Board of Administration. In this case the meeting shall discuss only the matter for which it is held. The decisions of the Board of Administration are made by the majority vote of the attendees. When votes are equal the president may cost the deciding vote. To top
